Minutes: February 26, 2004 Meeting
The meeting began at 7 p.m.
- Our Mission: To provide support for homeschooling
families in an atmosphere of faith, charity and learning. This mission will
be met through:
 |
Educational enrichment for the children. |
 |
Social activities that keep us from feeling isolated. |
 |
Training opportunities for the parents. |
We discussed this mission, and
how I envision training for the parents as the opportunity to discuss with other
parents how we homeschool as well as perhaps providing some classes for parents.
- Plans for proper care of the building. This mostly
centered on specific things we need to do to help clean up run smoothly and
to ensure that we do not abuse our privilege of using the building. These
included:
 |
If
anyone moves something (tables, chairs, etc.) from one room to another,
they should return it at the end of co-op. |
 |
First Aid Kit—we will assemble one and have it on hand for emergencies. |
 |
Do
not use glitter because it is a challenge to clean up. |
 |
We
have our own paper towels for co-op use, and should avoid using the
church’s, especially for cleaning up. Donations of paper towels
are welcome. |
 |
Try
to leave right after co-op so the clean-up crew can get finished quickly
(the park across the street can be used for socializing). |
- Calendar for the remainder of the school year.
 |
Spring Co-op Session: March 16-May 4, 8 weeks. This will be a trial
run of an eight-week session, and at the conclusion we will decide
whether six or eight weeks is better. |
 |
End
of school year party: May 11, most likely at 5 Mile Lake Park |
 |
Park days: throughout the summer. We need a volunteer to coordinate
this. |
- Future activities.
 |
Mary Vance will coordinate a field trip to Pioneer Farm this summer. |
 |
Amy
Leonard may put together a campout (most likely two nights) the weekend
after Labor Day. Any volunteers to help plan this are welcome. |
- Board Positions. The following positions are
possibilities for the board. Anyone who would like to volunteer for one of
the positions should email Amy Leonard.
 |
Education
Director: Coordinating the co-op. This includes arranging classes,
teachers, and registration. Amy Leonard is currently doing this and
will continue. |
 |
Historian: Take pictures and write up information about what we are
doing. We would like to put some of this information on our web site. |
 |
Parent
Support: Plan classes or other activities that help moms obtain further
training and gain support from each other. |
 |
Event Coordinator: Coordinate plans for parties, field trips, or
anything else we may do in addition to the co-op classes. This position
will consist of trying to gather volunteers to run various activities.
Mary Vance has volunteered for this. |
The meeting closed at
approximately 9:30 p.m.
