Who We Are
In September 2003, Rebecca Loertscher and Amy Leonard held an
informational meeting about a home school co-op they planned to begin in South King/Pierce counties, Washington.
They wanted their young elementary and preschool children to have the
opportunity to learn as part of a community, and they hoped to meet
successful home schooling families that would encourage them in their
efforts. Nineteen families participated in our first fall co-op session that fall, and
we have continued with about twenty or thirty
families ever since.
Welcome
We welcome your participation in our effort to support families that
choose to educate their children at home. No one
receives compensation for any services performed. We are not sponsored
or supported by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the
Mormons) and there is no official affiliation; however, the majority of
members of our group are of this faith. We are not an exclusive group
and we encourage participation from others not of this faith. We do
politely ask that you show respect for our beliefs, the facilities that we
are allowed to use, and the leadership that supports our efforts.
This fall we will be meeting on Tuesday mornings from 9:30 until noon
beginning October 2. We meet in Tacoma, Washington. For privacy
reasons, we do not post the exact location on our web site. If you would like to join the co-op, read our
policies and submit our
signup form. Cost information is
available at pay stub.
